Congratulations to Francis and Anthony!

Congratulations to Francis Fung and Anthony Beardsmore for their Ian Ward 2013 meeting success!

Francis won 1st prize for his talk entitled 'Teicoplanin by LC‐MS/MS: 5 reasons to do (more?) drugs.',
Anthony won 2nd prize for his talk entitled 'Low serum alkaline phosphatase in a premature neonate with osteopaenia.'

2013 Ian Ward - Change of venue and date

Please be aware that the location and date for the 2013 Ian Ward Meeting has changed!

The meeting will now be held at Royal Preston Hospital, on Friday 1st February.

A festschrift for John Kane

In recognition of John’s outstanding contribution to education/training, research and development, and clinical biochemistry practice there will be a festschrift to celebrate his career on the afternoon of 23rd January at Salford Royal Hospital.

Please note there is a £10 charge to help cover venue hire and buffet costs.  Any funds that are left will go towards a gift for John.

New North West Healthcare Science Network

The North West Healthcare Science Network has just relauced their new website at

The NW Heathcare Science Network a professional network created in 2004 to support, promote, develop and represent the Healthcare Science workforce of over 7000 Healthcare Scientists in the North West.

The network represents over 45 different specialisms of scientist across 3 broad divisions  - Life Science, Physiological Science and Physical Science and Engineering.

Website Registration Issues

A technical hitch has been uncovered which has prevented some new users from registering with the site.

This has now been addressed, and the site is now allowing new users to sign up.
